60 cycle of classical plays

The 60th season of classical plays at Syracuse's Greek Theater kicks off: staged from May 9 to July 6. On the bill are four major plays (Electra, Oedipus at Colonus, Lysistrata and The Iliad) that will feature, among others, Sonia Bergamasco, Vinicio Marchioni, Fotinì Peluso (making her Temenite debut), Lella Costa and Giuseppe Sartori. Directing will be Robert Carsen (Oedipus at Colonus by Sophocles), who returns after his experience in 2022, and then Roberto Andò (Electra by Sophocles) and Serena Sinigaglia (Lysistrata by Aristophanes). Two tragedies and a comedy will be followed by a new original creation by Giuliano Peparini from the Iliad.
Also helping will be simultaneous translation into English, French and Spanish provided by artificial intelligence, thanks to an innovative project of the Inda Foundation.
The season closes with a world premiere, July 4-6, of Giuliano Peparini's new original creation from the Iliad, on texts chosen and translated by Francesco Morosi. Co-produced with the Archaeological Park of Syracuse, Eloro, Villa del Tellaro and Akrai, after the success of "Ulysses, the Last Odyssey" will see the debut at the Greek Theater in Syracuse (in the role of the Aedo) of Vinicio Marchioni; Giuseppe Sartori will be Achilles while Giulia Fiume will play Andromache. The music will be by maestro Beppe Vessicchio.
